Congressman Vicente Gonzalez on ensuring Mexico complies with Water Treaty; RFD-TV

South Texas farmers shouldn’t have to face uncertainty because Mexico doesn’t fully uphold it’s end of the 1944 Water Treaty. When USMCA renegotiations begin next month, we must enforce safeguards to get our farmers the water they need. However, we also can’t ignore that these water payments only go so far without the proper infrastructure in place to prevent evaporation and seepage. I remain committed to bringing home more federal resources to improve our water storage capacity and ensure Mexico delivers the water that is owed.
