South Texas is made up of cities of all sizes, each with its own special charm. As your Congressman, I'm always fighting to ensure our smaller communities get the same federal resources as any major metropolitan area. That's why I secured $6 million this past year for a new Regional Nursing Training Facility in...

Extreme Republicans in Washington have accelerated inflation, which is increasing costs on almost everything. South Texans are fed up with partisan politics. It's past time for Congress to come together and work in a bipartisan manner to lower the cost of housing, food, healthcare, prices at the pump, and more.

This Administration's rogue ICE agency is going beyond the deportation of violent criminals. Last week's unlawful detention of two South Texas teenagers on their way to enlist in the Marines and the shooting of Wilber Rafael Garces Perez in Austin are just the latest outcomes of hyperaggressive immigration raids and...

Earlier this year, President Trump promised the people of Corpus Christi that he was going to "take care" of the water crisis. As South Texans' voice in Washington, I'm holding the Administration accountable on its promise to bring the federal water funding our region needs to operate and survive. Reliable water is...

Earlier this summer, our community had to scramble at the last minute to voice our strong opposition to an out-of-state name proposal threatening our historic Boca Chica Beach in Cameron County. Today, I urged the House Subcommittee on Federal Lands to advance my bill, the Hands Off Our Boca Chica Beach Act, that...

Five years ago, the last Administration botched America's withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the city of Kabul fell to the Taliban. I got a call that six of our Afghan pilot allies were in danger and unable to escape. Today, as we remember the lives lost and continue to learn from the chaos that ensued, I'm sharing...

South Texans deserve a fair shot at homeownership, but continue to get priced out due to rising costs and lack of affordable housing inventory. The good news is that thanks to my efforts in Congress, relief is on the way. By working across the aisle, I helped pass into law an affordable housing package--which...

Every nation has a right to enforce its immigration laws, but there is a clear line between enforcing the law and using unnecessary force or tactics that put lives at risk. Reports of deaths, beatings, and other abusive behaviors must be taken seriously and receive thorough, independent investigations.

I was honored to attend the Library of Congress’ America 250 National Birthday Cake Tribute, a celebration of our nation's great history and future. As we commemorate this milestone, we also recommit to our greatest strength as a nation—our ability to come together with purpose, hope, and a shared commitment to one...

South Texas farmers shouldn’t have to face uncertainty because Mexico doesn’t fully uphold it’s end of the 1944 Water Treaty. When USMCA renegotiations begin next month, we must enforce safeguards to get our farmers the water they need. However, we also can’t ignore that these water payments only go so far without...

The Rio Grande Valley is blossoming and home to some of the safest neighborhoods in the country. But there's still work to be done, and I'll keep fighting to bring federal investments and good-paying jobs to our region.

The Rio Grande Valley is a booming region--in large part because of the work we're doing to expand educational opportunities for South Texas children. Over the last decade, I've delivered nearly $8 billion in federal funding to our region for Title I schools and more. Although this Administration wants to put Title...

To keep pace with population growth and strengthen the economy in South Texas, we must address the water shortage. This starts with local, state, and federal government coming together to invest in sustainable water infrastructure projects that ensure our homes and businesses can access the water they need.
